TRAVERTINE
It is a sedimentary rock composed of calcite and aragonite. It is characterized by a high porosity and an interesting structure. Travertine is available in a wide range of shades of white, brown, beige and red. Due to the large number of grooves and pores, travertine stone is brittle and should be placed on leveled surfaces. The original structure and the natural colors make this stone a material valued by designers, and it is often used for fireplaces or walls. Due to the relatively low resistance to abrasion, it is not suitable for floors and stairs in high traffic areas. It contains calcium; therefore, like marble, it reacts negatively when in contact with acids which cause stains. We do not recommend it to be used in kitchens and bathrooms.
